That One Day in October

I'm so contrary. I was a committed smoker in Australia for over twenty years, even though it became practically impossible to smoke anywhere. Now that I can smoke anywhere and they cost about $3.00 a pack, I decide to stop smoking.

And today's the day.

Big yay!

    good luck!

i am also trying to stop, it all started from a good friend in tokyo who begged me to stop!
it was really sweet, he gave me 5 packs of really cute hand painted matches (from loft) and asked/told me than when i used up all the matches i had to stop smoking!!!
too bad the matches were so cute- i couldn't bring myself to use them!

chew GUM, be strong and good luck!

  3. Is this the end for 'Nice' Gaijin Girl? prepare for some mean angry posting with maybe some biting, yay!

  4. vk, thanks! i picked yesterday about 6 weeks ago so i'm well ready for it.

sarah, thanks! i like that match idea. when you're ready to stop, try reading allen carr's 'easyway to quit smoking'. i'm not doing patches, gum or anything and it is easy.

old man, don't let the words fool you - 'nice' gaijin girl never existed. there won't be any mean, angry posting, well, no more than my usual whining, as i like to maintain the illusion that i am a nice person. who bites.

  6. hey ximena, you ok mate? thanks for the encouragement as it's nice to get some (cyber) support. i still can't believe i'm doing it.
perhaps the new non-smoking gg will be edgier and tougher than the old. methinks it could be time to start biting!

  7. Good stuff GG. I think I should sit down and write a commemorative tune to mark the occassion. What I should call it.... "Requiem for an Old Friend"?
Whenever you feel the urge, just listen to the song instead - it's on it's way.

  8. thanks darlin'! and thanks for stopping by.
i do like the idea of a requiem for my old nicotine pal. i rather fancy a techno/industrial version perhaps with a mix of chopin's piano sonata no 2 (third movement) thrown in. now that would be interesting. hehe, looking forward to hearing it.
